Come bicycle with Oakland Public Library starting at the César E. Chávez Branch; roll out at 11 AM. They’ll take bike routes through the Fruitvale and East Oakland neighborhoods and stop for lunch at the 81st Avenue Library, where you’ll enjoy a special screening of the documentary Motherload (link http://motherloadmovie.com/welcome)
This film is about a new mother’s quest to understand the increasing isolation and disconnection of the digital age, its planetary impact, and how cargo bikes could be an antidote. Filmmaker Liz Canning will also lead a panel discussion afterwards. They’ll then ride out to the new dedicated bike lane on 73rd Avenue before heading back to end the day at the Chavez Branch Library. Bring your bicycle and your appetite and they’ll do the rest!
Slow pace, no-drop ride; families and children are welcome. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
