Bike East Bay member Ian McDonald will be giving an hour-long slideshow/presentation about Cycle Oregon (including Q&A) at the City Commons Club weekly luncheon on Friday October 7.
Those who aren’t familiar with Cycle Oregon, here’s what I posted on the Club’s “Upcoming Speakers” schedule:
Cycle Oregon - a seven-day excursion through a different part of Oregon each year. Participants receive beautiful campsites, plentiful food, hot showers, live entertainment and a fully supported route. Plus yoga, massage, acupuncture, cold microbrews, Oregon wine, gourmet coffee, hand tossed pizza and many other amenities. Ian has joined the week-long ride a half-dozen times, and will present a slide show and talk not only about the people & places visited, but also how Cycle Oregon has been helping to preserve and protect the special places of Oregon for almost 30 years. Bikes may change, adventure are unchanged, bikes have gotten lighter and jerseys brighter, but the fundamentals of this seven-day trip remain the same.
The talk will be held at the beautiful & historic Berkeley City Club on Durant. Lunch is a delicious buffet (prepared by the in-house restaurant, Julia’s; $20 as I recall; Ride to Eat, Eat to Ride!) and attending the talk is free, or $1 or something for coffee. The presentation will start at 12:30; meeting adjourns at 1:30.
