This is the fifth training ride in a multi-ride series leading up to the 2015 California Climate Ride (May 17th-21st). Everyone is welcome to join us for this ride, whether you are planning on participating in the Climate Ride or not. However, all participants will need to bring their own working bike and helmet, as well as any water (two bottles recommended) and snacks you may need on the ride, sunscreen, money for BART, and good spirits! If you don’t have a useable bike and helmet please feel free to rent them from Bay Area Bikes near the Bike East Bay offices in Oakland’s Jack London Square. ***Ride will be canceled in the event of rain***
This very hilly and moderate-paced ride will start right outside the faregates at the Pleasant Hill BART Station, then head west to Clayton to start a clockwise loop around the remote and beautiful outskirts of Mount Diablo. Bring lunch to share at mile 23 at the top of Morgan Territory Road where there is water and restrooms, but no food source. Around mile 35 we will rejoin civilization and then make a pit stop in Danville at mile 44 before proceeding north along the Iron Horse Trail back to BART.
This ride has significant elevation and few good bail-out spots, so please make sure your bike and all your gears are in good working order ahead of time.

This ride is a good way to meet other people going on the Climate Ride, ask questions about what to expect on the ride, as well as get some great views as we ride around Mount Diablo.
