Bike the Bay Trail to MLK Regional Park, looking for shorebirds as you go.
Join Bike East Bay and ride leader Karen Hester for a jaunt along the water. This member-volunteer led ride will follow the Embarcadero and the San Francisco Bay Trail south from Jack London Square to Martin Luther King Regional Shoreline for a 15 mile round-trip ride. The route is nearly all flat, and beginning birders and kids are welcome. Karen is as passionate about birding as she is about biking, and is thrilled to share both with you. We’ll be looking at shorebirds, and especially looking for the endangered clapper rail.
Meet in Jack London Square at Broadway and Water St (pedestrian street) under the palm trees at 9:45am with bikes in good working order and inflated tires. Ride departs at 10:00am. Bring binoculars if you have them, and snacks and water for yourself.
Heavy rain cancels. Check back here at 8am on Saturday for the final call. Registered participants will receive an email. UPDATE: The ride is on!
Karen also invites you to join her for an optional lunch or beer afterwards at Brotzeit. brotzeitbiergarten.com
