Berkeley Elected Officials Bike Ride 7:30am

Mayor Jesse Arreguin and Councilmembers hop on the saddle and take a short, family-friendly bike ride through downtown Berkeley on Bike to Work Day, Thursday, May 11. Meet at 7:30am and ride out at 8:00am from Hearst & Arch, where Berkeley is constructing its next protected bike lanes.

Bike Plan Celebration at Berkeley Bike Station 8:30am

After the morning bike ride, elected officials, city staff, and Berkeley residents and bike commuters will gather at the Berkeley Bike Station to fuel up on morning yummies and celebrate Bike to Work Day and the anticipated City Council approval of the most innovative bicycle plan in the nation. Mayor Jesse Arreguin will speak about Berkeley’s innovative new Bicycle Plan and his commitment to making Berkeley a world-class bike-friendly city.

Join us to celebrate

  1. Berkeley’s new Bike Plan, including Berkeley’s Low Stress Vision Network and Prioritization Plan

  2. The Bancroft Way protected bikeway and bus-only lane pilot project, to be completed in June 2017

  3. New bike rack and corral installations coming in Fall 2017

  4. The Hearst Complete Streets project, to be completed Summer 2017

  5. Berkeley’s first HAWK Beacon at Hillegass & Ashby coming Summer 2017

  6. The expanded Bike Station’s new home in the Center Street Garage, opening spring 2018

  7. Funding for Southside bicycle and bus pilot projects as well as the Milvia Street Bicycle Boulevard protected bikeway, all coming over the next few years
