Bike East Bay’s Membership Manager, Rachel Jacobson, is co-captaining Bike East Bay’s Climate Ride team for the 2017 Central California Coast ride. This is her first fundraising ride, but her enthusiasm is infectious.
As a co-captain of Bike East Bay’s Climate Ride team, I’m excited to train and fundraise together with our team for the ride! I’ve never done a multi-day ride like this, and on a personal level, I’m jazzed about the challenge and the opportunity.
As a staff member at Bike East Bay, I get to spend my energy in support of sustainable solutions and active transportation advocacy: work that will have a lasting, meaningful impact for the people around me. While attending UC Davis and living in that bike-friendly town, I learned how powerful it is to have good transportation options that include walking, bicycling, and taking transit. Now I work on improving and sharing those options with folks in the East Bay.
I’ve recently been promoted to Membership Manager and I’ve never been happier than I’ve been working on this incredible team. My beliefs and opinions are valued and my skills are appreciated and cultivated as we do work that deeply resonates. This is the kind of organization you want to see grow.
In tandem with this new fundraising and stewardship role, I’m stepping up to co-captain our Climate Ride team for 2017. As co-captain, I’ll be sharing my fundraising experience and helping our team each step of the way as we all work towards our goal of raising $30,000 for Bike East Bay. In 2014, Climate Riders raised $25,000 for Bike East Bay. These funds enabled us to take on new advocacy campaigns that won world-class bike lanes for Berkeley, Oakland and other cities in the East Bay.
I’m determined to make it a banner year by supporting a rockstar Climate Ride team as we raise funds for Bike East Bay and train for the ride.
