Shopping by Bike Class - Berkeley

Registration is closed for this event

This indoor, 1-hour class is made possible via a partnership with the Berkeley Public Library and funding from the Alameda County Transportation Commission.

Bikes are a great tool for transportation, and as we integrate them more and more into our daily lives then the ability to carry loads of various sizes becomes increasingly important. With the holiday season upon us it's a perfect time to learn how to shop and carry things by bike!

At this workshop we'll provide tips to get you started while avoiding some common mistakes, as well as share some master portaging secrets to help make any size load more manageable.

Learn about:

  • Carrying small, medium, and large size loads by bike
  • On-the-body or on-the-bike carrying options
  • Different types of bike racks and bags
  • The fine art of transporting children and pets by bike
  • And lots more!

Bonus: Bring an old bike tube and a plastic coat hanger with you to class and we'll show you how to make an insta-bungee!
