Bike East Bay staff and board will be leading a series of progressively challenging rides from February to June. We’ll check out longer and hillier routes around the East Bay in a social and supportive setting. This series prepares Bike East Bay’s team for the California Climate Ride, and the rides are open to all. Whether you’re challenging yourself to ride more or making sure you’re fit for your upcoming organized rides or events, we hope you’ll join us this spring.
This ride will be 73 miles with 1,800 feet of climbing starting at Pleasant Hill BART. We'll head out and go over the Benicia-Martinez bridge. From there we'll take frontage roads, stopping for a rest and snack in Cordelia at mile 25. Refreshed, we'll continue on climbing country roads past Fairfield and Vacaville then head down to Winters for a late lunch at mile 55. We'll finish up in Davis, and take Amtrak back to the Bay.
Amtrak tickets are usually around $25, and you can get discounts if you purchase early. The Bay Area train stops are Martinez, Richmond, Berkeley, Emeryville, and Oakland/Jack London Square. There's no extra fee to bring bikes on board, but we recommend you bring a cable lock to secure yours. We're aiming for the 4:55 train, and any ticket you purchase will be valid on that train or the following ones if needed.
Bring your own working bike and helmet, any water (two bottles recommended) and snacks you may need on the ride, sunscreen, money for Amtrak and lunch (or bring your lunch with you), and good spirits!
We roll out promptly at 9:00am, so be there by 8:45 to sign in and meet everyone.
Rain cancels or postpones. Register to let us know you're coming and be sure you get any last-minute updates.
