The City of San Leandro is planning for biking and walking improvements on Bancroft Avenue and Williams Street, two high priority streets for safer bicycling, and wants to show you their preferred protected bikeway design concepts for the project.
At this event we will meet up at the San Leandro BART station for a short bike tour around town to check out three popup demonstration bikeways, set up for this one-day only, for residents to envision and experience to some extent a safer, more bikeable San Leandro.
- Ride from BART to Victoria Court on Bancroft Ave: 12pm-1:00pm
- Ride down Bancroft Ave to Toyon Park on Bancroft Ave: 1:00pm-1:30pm
- Ride back up Bancroft Ave a short stretch, and then head west to Williams Street and the formerly named Woodrow Wilson Elementary School: 1:30-2:00pm
- Return ride from Williams Street to San Leandro BART: 2:00pm
This will be a slow-paced group ride, with short stops at the three popup bikeways for discussion. Participants will be able to watch their bikes while at each popup bikeway, as well as ride the bikeway and provide feedback.
All adults are welcome to participate, and any youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All riders under 18 must wear a helmet, and everyone should bring their own bicycle.
