The packet for Thursday’s BART board meeting reveals that bike thefts in the quarter ended September 30 rose to 177, up from 159 in the previous quarter. Thefts have been rising since the quarter ended March 30, when they were at about 120.
This information is being presented as part of BART’s Quarterly Performance Report which can be found on BART’s Web site.
I haven’t seen a meeting of the BART bicycle accessibility task force scheduled since August 2009. I remain concerned not only about BART bike thefts but also about whether the costs for the expanded Berkeley bike station project are within budget.
