Help Design Bike-Friendly East Bay Bus Rapid Transit Stations

Wednesday, September 26, 2012 - 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Dear Community Partner:

We’ve kept in touch over the past several years as AC Transit and its city partners work together to develop the East Bay Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. This project, which will connect Downtown Oakland to East Oakland and San Leandro along International Blvd. and East 14th Street, promises to improve speed and reliability and, essentially, provide light rail without the tracks--combining the best features of rail with the flexibility and cost advantages of bus transit.

Later this month, we’re coming out to the public again, this time to gather input on station design at four community meetings:

Wednesday September 26
Oakland Asian Cultural Center
388 9th St, Ste. 290, Room 4

Thursday September 27
San Leandro Senior Community Center
13909 E 14th St.
San Leandro

Saturday September 29
81st Avenue Library Meeting Room
1021 81st Ave.

Attendees will view and comment on proposed station designs, and learn about crosswalk treatments and other amenities. A second round of meetings on neighborhood design will be held in November. Preliminary designs will be released in early 2013.
We would appreciate your help in getting the word out. If you have a newsletter, e-mail list-serve, or other method of communication with your constituents, we hope you can include this announcement.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at a community meeting!
