Over 20,000 enjoy 2nd Annual Pedalfest

Many thanks to all who came out to Jack London Square Saturday Aug 18 and became a part of our wildly successful 2nd annual Pedalfest celebration.  Everywhere you turned it seemed there was something cool going on and there were crowds of happy cyclist enjoying themselves.  Chris Clark wowed the crowds with his stunts, the Clayton Bikes BMX crew were flying through the air, Scraper Bikes were on the scene, the Pedal-powered sound stage was rocking out, yummy treats were being served up by biking vendors and tasty New Belgium brews were being enjoyed by all. We could not have put on this super-fun event without our 100 plus volunteers who helped us get set up, parked bikes, poured beer, talked up our Measure B1 campaign, kept people safe and broke it all down at the end of the night.  You all made our day and made the day of the tens of thousands of festival-goers who went home with smiles on their faces.  You all rock!  You also helped to raise over $11 thousand for our advocacy work through beer sales, thanks to the generous sponsorship of New Belgium Brewing. Here at the East Bay Bicycle Coalition we are working to take a simple solution to the problems our planet and our cities face - bicycling - and build a community of joy and connection around it.  On Saturday we saw that community in action here in the East Bay.  We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
