Join our Summer efforts for Safe Bike Access to MacArthur BART Station

The City of Oakland was awarded a $242,500 grant from the Safe Routes to Transit program for bicycle access improvements to MacArthur BART. Many good things are going to happen in connection with this funding to make it easier to bicycle to the East Bay’s fourth busiest BART Station.  Some neighbors are concerned about the loss of greenery due to median narrowing necessary for new bike lanes on 40th St. Plans are in the works to address these concerns and your help is needed to show how bike lanes and greenery go hand in hand.

Currently, AC Transit is involved in a labor dispute. However, as soon as that is wrapped up, EBBC will meet with AC Transit representatives to discuss bus and bike access on 40th Street.

Walk Oakland Bike Oakland and the East Bay Bicycle Coalition co-hosted an organizing meeting on April 27, 6:30-8:00pm at the Temescal Creek Cohousing, 322 45th St. near Broadway, in the common house. A Plan was developed for public outreach and working with AC Transit and Emeryville Go Round.

Imagine a community where all streets leading to BART are safe to ride on and the MacArthur BART community is a great place to live. With your help, this vision of MacArthur BART can become a reality.
